I created this painting using a photograph I had taken at Minooka Park & Pond in Waukesha, WI. It was a gorgeous summer day and I was there hanging out with my bestie, Marlee. We brought Marlee’s two golden retrievers, Roxy & Oakley, to swim. Eventually, a group of kids walked over to us to pet the doggies and got to talking to Marlee about all things golden retrievers, Japan, food, and swimming. Can you guess what I was doing? Lying on my back with my eyes closed, sunbathing.
I tend to do that a lot. Turn off from the rest of the world in order to keep myself safe in my own bubble. But that’s just how I reset. I don’t mind socializing with others, but when I need time to sit in silence, I protect that time.
